SAN FRANCISCO, CA — March 2026 — U.S. Futsal is preparing to send two collegiate Futsal teams — one men’s and one women’s — to the 2026 FISU Summer World University Games, the largest international sporting event for university athletes, attracting more than 10,000 athletes and officials from over 150 countries. Often referred to as the largest global multi-sport event for student-athletes, the FISU Summer World University Games are held every two years in a different host city and celebrate the intersection of high-level athletic competition, education, and cultural exchange. The Futsal competition will take place June 28–July 9, 2026 in Warsaw, Poland.
For the Futsal competition, each participating country is invited to send one men’s and one women’s collegiate team, composed of top university-level players.

To assemble the United States teams, U.S. Futsal coaches are currently scouting collegiate Futsal programs and identifying standout players across the country. Athletes may be selected through tryouts, scouting, and individual evaluation, allowing the coaching staff to build the strongest possible teams from multiple universities.
“We’re excited to bring together some of the best collegiate Futsal talent in the United States and represent our country on the international stage. The World University Games offer an incredible opportunity for student athletes to compete at a high level while experiencing the global Futsal community.”
— Alexander Para, President of U.S. Futsal
U.S. Futsal has already selected Roxanne Kamal of Colorado as head coach of the women’s team. Kamal brings both playing and international experience to the role. She previously represented the United States as a player at the Futsal World Cup in Colombia about a decade ago and has since remained actively involved in the sport’s development in the United States.
“We are proud to have Roxanne leading the women’s program for this event. Her experience as both a player and leader in the Futsal community makes her an outstanding mentor for the athletes representing the United States.”
— Jessica Dodson, Fractional Marketing Director for U.S. Futsal
The head coach for the men’s team will be announced in the coming weeks as the selection process continues.
The 2026 FISU World University Games will feature twelve days of competition across fifteen sports, drawing global audiences and celebrating student-athletes who balance academic achievement with elite athletic performance.
